🐉✨ Whisk Magic: How to Make Dragonflies from a Whisk!

Advertisements

Looking for a creative craft that uses everyday materials and sparks BIG imagination? This whisk dragonfly craft is the perfect mix of art, creativity, and hands-on fun! Kids will love transforming a simple kitchen whisk into a colorful dragonfly that can fly onto a wall or perch in a plant. We really enjoy making these with my preschool class and my own kids love to make them too!

Let’s get crafting! 🎨🧹

🧰 What You’ll Need

✂️ Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Shape the Wings

Carefully bend the wires of the whisk outward to create dragonfly wings. Spread them evenly so your dragonfly looks ready to take flight!

🪶 Tip: Dragonfly wings don’t have to be perfect—every one can be unique!

Step 2: Create the Head

Using wire cutters, snip the top loop of the whisk so it separates into two pieces. These will become the dragonfly’s antennae.

Slide a wooden bead onto both wire ends and gently pull it down to form the dragonfly’s head.

👀 Bonus idea: Draw eyes on the bead with a marker!

Step 3: Make the Body

Thread colorful pony beads onto pipe cleaners to create the dragonfly’s body. Once beaded, hook the pipe cleaners onto the inside loops of the whisk.

Twist securely so everything stays in place.

🌈 This is a great chance for kids to practice patterns and color design!

🎉 Voilà! Your Dragonfly Is Complete!

You’ve just created a whisk dragonfly that can:

Each dragonfly is one-of-a-kind—just like its creator!
