After testing, students analyze their data:

  • Which helicopter stayed in the air the longest?
  • Which design was the most stable?
  • How did blade length or body size affect spin?

Discuss results as a group and connect findings to real-world helicopter design.


4. Elaborate: Engineering Your Own Helicopter (15 minutes)

Using the evidence they collected, students now design their own paper helicopter.

Students should:

  • Choose design features based on data
  • Predict how their design will perform
  • Test and refine if time allows

This step reinforces the engineering design process and problem-solving skills.


5. Evaluate (5 minutes)

Assess understanding through:

  • Completed data sheets
  • Student-designed helicopters
  • Written or verbal explanations of design choices
